Influenza Booster

The Client

Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) is an independent, not‑for‑profit organisation funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care, dedicated to strengthening primary healthcare and improving community wellbeing across the Gold Coast. Their commitment to building a healthy, connected and resilient community often involves using visual creative to communicate important health messages to the public.

The Challenge

Winter 2024 in Queensland brought several new influenza strains, raising concerns that a severe flu season could spread across the region. In response, GCPHN approached Ravel to develop a 30‑second cinema commercial promoting the importance of annual influenza vaccination and reminding residents to protect themselves via a free inoculation.

Ravel's Solution

The previous video Ravel developed for GCPHN, “Childhood Immunisation”, employed a hand-drawn 2D animation style inspired by children’s books. For the influenza campaign, which targeted audiences aged 25–60, the team adapted a more mature illustration and character animation approach, creating rigged, animated characters that represent the diverse Gold Coast community. Using motion design, dynamic transitions, and expressive character performance, the video communicated that getting a flu jab is quick, easy, and free.
