Subsea Cable Manufacturing

The Client

SunCable is an Australian, world-leading renewable energy company built on an ambition to harness the unbeatable potential of Australian sunshine. SunCable partnered with HATCH, whose diverse teams combine vast engineering and business knowledge, worked in partnership with SunCable in their development of subsea cable manufacturing.

The Challenge

Subsea cable manufacturing is a complicated process, and HATCH (on behalf of SunCable) approached Ravel to develop an easy-to-follow animated explainer video that would explain the manufacturing process. The video had two purposes, engage investors, and educate the public. The challenge, however, was that the facilities to be depicted in the video didn’t exist at that point in time.

Ravel's Solution

Ravel approached animation with stylised 2D animation, with a on the manufacturing process supported by a flowing narrative. This animation style allowed the environment, machinery and layout of the to-be-built facility non-specific, while still explaining the manufacturing process with technical accuracy, albeit high-level. This animation style captures a warm, inviting vision of SunCable’s work, making a highly technical process visually appealing and understandable by the general public.
