The Client

Marketing and Creative agency Social Tap, on behalf of the Yowie Group, commissioned Ravel to concept, produce and deliver a high-end mixed media production for the Yowie brand's United States relaunch, combining live action cinematography and 3D character animation into a single, broadcast-quality promotional video.

The Challenge

The greatest challenge was adapting the iconic Yowie character designs to sit convincingly within live action footage. Boof, the star of the commercial, underwent an extensive character redesign to ensure seamless integration into a live action environment, aided by professional motion tracking, lighting matching and shadow rendering.

Ravel's Solution

Striking the right balance between realistic rendering and an approachable cartoon aesthetic was a precise and delicate process. Ravel's animation and cinematography departments worked closely to ensure the final product blended realism with creativity. The redesign proved so successful that the Yowie Group commissioned a full character suite redesign, with the refreshed character models now adopted as the definitive visual identity across the entire Yowie brand.
